About

Andrés started practicing the physical aspect of yoga while recovering from a horseback riding accident he suffered in his late teens.  Shortly after he was introduced to meditation and pranayama (breath control) and made them part of his regular practice. Yoga and meditation have taught him how to balance his full-time job at the World Bank and his work as a Holistic Health Coach while still enjoying being with his family and friends.

After his accident, Andrés tried various approaches to strengthening his back and relieving pain. Seeing that yoga provided a tremendous improvement, he decided to make it part of his life. One instance in which Andrés’ appreciation for his yoga practice increases is after running and boot camp workouts. He can clearly feel the tightness and soreness dissipate after taking his body through an invigorating yoga practice. The benefits of including yoga in his life are not limited to the physical plane. He finds that his physical yoga practice grounds him and enables him to practice meditation and pranayama with mindfulness. In conjunction, these disciplines allow him to tap into his body’s innate healing ability. Best of all, they allow him to simply enjoy life by staying centred and grounded and not sweating the small stuff.

Years of continuous practice led Andres to pursue a teacher training certification at Down Dog Yoga in order to gain further understanding of the discipline.

His work as a Holistic Health Coach allows him to empower individuals to live at their optimum level by bringing balance to the different areas of their life. When not practicing at the studio, you will catch Andrés going for a run by the DC monuments and trails, or cross-training with his boot camp group at the Georgetown Waterfront Park.
